Welcome to the Association of Diocesan Registry Clerks

The Association is open to all Diocesan Registry Clerks and assistant staff in the Church of England Diocesan Registries, Provincial Registries and the Faculty Office

WHO WE ARE

The Association was formed in 2000 and was originally split into two Provinces – the North and the South.  In 2005 by mutual agreement, the Association was merged together into one body.  We are a non-profit making Association.

The President of the Association is Charles George Q.C. Dean of the Arches and Auditor of the Chancery Court of York and Master of the Faculties, the Chair is Mary Jamieson Registry Clerk of the Diocese of Carlisle, the Secretary is Cassi Errington, Registry Clerk of the Portsmouth Diocesan Registry, and the Treasurer is Liz Matthews, Registry Clerk of the Worcester Diocesan Registry.  Our Communications Officer is Jessica Smith, Registry Clerk of the Diocese and Province of York and the Diocese of Sodor and Man and she and Anne-Marie Organ are both elected Committee Members.

WHAT WE DO

The aim of the Association is to support and assist its members in the furtherance of their professional roles by encouraging and sharing knowledge of ecclesiastical law, practice and procedures, imparting and exchanging information, and promoting discussion relevant to their roles.

It can be quite fun to swap stories about unusual faculties and voluminous paperwork with fellow clerks who are doing the same slightly unusual job!  The clerks meet for a day conference and a residential conference (Friday and Saturday) in alternate years and engage in email correspondence with each other for help and advice.

ETHOS

The Ethos of the Association is that of the Church of England.
